Ultrasound in Medicine: Questions of Safety and Performance
Scientific Program (Brief Info)

Medical ultrasound is an established and expanding sector in public
health. The easy appearance of many medical routine applications may
however frequently hide a difficult background of todays technologies
and its use, giving rise to specific interdisciplinary questions or
problems. This specialised workshop is devoted to the following main
topics: Assessment and quantification of risk (Bioeffect-Potential of
ultrasonic output) versus benefit (performance) of relevant ultrasonic
systems in medicine ; interactions with research in physics and
engineering and new commercial developments ; impact of scientific
results on regulatory activities in health care and achieved quality
levels . The workshop contributes to substantiate existent faults and
future tasks in Medical Ultrasound.

Program Structure:
1) Reception Sunday 9th April, evening

2) Scientific meeting of 3 days duration on Monday 10.4.- Wednesday
12.4.(all day sessions), including lecture sessions, discussions and
technical demonstrations on specific topics.( Participants group A)
Optional Educational Seminars

3) Seminars on Wednesday 12.4. and Thursday 13.4., all day
(Participants group B)

4) Seminar / Course on Friday 14.4. all day (participants group C)
