learn about the various symptoms that pathological liars display. Remember
that these symptoms of a pathological liar must be displayed on a regular
basis for a long period of time, for the individual to qualify as a
pathological liar. Everyone tells lies at some point or the other, for some
motive or the other, so one must learn to distinguish between white lies and
involuntary lies.

a.. If the individual always exaggerates stories and tales and
experiences, he could be a pathological liar. This aspect of their
personality stems from a deep insecurity which compels them to display
events in an exaggerated light, in order to get accepted into society. This

b.. One of the clearest signs of a pathological liar disorder is that,
they always try to prove themselves to be better than someone else. If
somebody performs a certain task, a pathological liar claims that he can do
it much better. Moreover, he goes out of his way to prove his point and his
illusionary superiority.

c.. They distort the truth in many different ways, and assume that it
makes no difference that they do this. When they are confronted about these
lies, they may get very defensive and things might take a turn for the ugly
after that. They believe that there is nothing wrong in the lies they are
telling, because they are indirectly passing along the facts nonetheless.

d.. They may always try to get sympathy and pity from people, by talking
about mysterious illnesses and ailments that they supposedly have. This
false illness manifests itself into their reality, and as a result, they
feel they have the right to make up all the lies that they tell. Before one
starts administering pathological liar treatment, the possible causes of
these signs must be studied.

e.. Many times, their lies will contradict what they have said earlier.
Telling so many lies constantly makes them forget their fabrications, and
they often end up confusing the facts. All these factors make it easy to
understand what is a pathological liar exactly. These factors also makes it
extremely difficult to deal with pathological liars in relationships.

Along with these obvious signs of a pathological liar, there are many other
ways to recognize a pathological liar as well. They will often leave you
perplexed about their behavior, and you will be left questioning their
sanity and their perceived sense of reality. Here are some more clear cut
signs of a pathological liar.

a.. They lie about the smallest and most irrelevant of things.
b.. They constantly try to display their superiority over others.
c.. They always try to put down other people, and make them feel guilty.
d.. They try and get sympathy from other people around.
e.. They get angry and maybe even violent when they are confronted.
