Jean G. Dumesnil CQ, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Dumesnil is Professor of Medicine at Laval University, Quebec City,
Quebec, Canada, and Cardiologist at the Quebec Heart Institute, Laval
Hospital, Ste-Foy, Quebec, Canada. Past appointments include Director of the
Cardiology Training Program, Head of the Service of Cardiology, Director of
the Echocardiography Laboratory and Director of the Catheterization
Laboratory. Dr. Dumesnil received his MD degree from the University of
Montreal in 1968, followed by residencies in Medicine and Cardiology at
Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Mayo Clinic, Rochester,
Minnesota. In recognition of his career accomplishments, he was invited to
give the annual lecture of the Canadian Society of Echocardiography in
October 1999 and was named to the National Order of Quebec in June 2004.
He is currently part of the Research Committee of the American Society of
Echocardiography and has been a member of the Society since its inception.
Present and past positions also include Board Member of the Canadian Society
of Echocardiography, Governor of the American College of Cardiology, Council
Member of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, President of the Quebec
Echocardiography Society and Vice-President of the Quebec Association of
Cardiologists. Main research interests include heart valve prosthesis
function, heart valve disease and ventricular function; more than 100
publications have appeared in peer-reviewed journals and he has given more
than 200 invited lectures on these topics.
